IFA 2015 The curved THOMSON A87 UHD TV series: An exceptional image quality

Berlin, September 4th, 2015. Showcased at this year’s IFA, the Thomson A87 series is part of its new range of curved TVs, providing pure cinematic emotions.

With its luxuruous design and ideal curve (4000R), the screen of the A87 Thomson series transforms your living room into a movie theatre. At the centre of the 4K image, you will discover the feeling of immersion that you get in a movie theatre, a wider field of vision and greater image depth.

Its Wide Color Gamut technology enables you to enjoy the wealth of digital cinema colour, with colours that are 30% purer reproducing flame reds, emerald greens and deep blues, helping you to experience the true atmosphere the director wanted.

The integrated Quad Core processor with Pure Image Ultra HD digital processing offers a high definition image that is more fluid, more detailed and more natural. This power is also put to use to carry out the movement processing algorithm with an index of 1000Hz CMI, which allows viewers to enjoy a sharper and more fluid image even during fast movement.

Furthermore, this television is HEVC compatible (H.265), the video encoding standard developed for broadcasting in Ultra High Definition. The Smart TV 2.0 portal has a new interface to facilitate access to the many new applications available and the TV can be controlled with your smartphone or your tablet.

The Thomson A87 Series will be available from October 2015 in 55’’, 65’’ and 78’’ at the estimated retail price of 1499€ (55’’), 2499€ (65’’) and 6999€ (78’’)

In addition, Thomson and TCL will also be demonstrating the world’s first new HDR technology working directly on a television -­‐ Technicolor’s Intelligent Tone Management upscaling solution. This unique tool analyzes video content in real-­‐time and creates an amazing immersive viewing experience by automatically up converting all incoming Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) content to High Dynamic Range (HDR). This technology will allow consumers to rediscover their home library of movies and TV shows through the magic of HDR.
